For the second time this season Optus Stadium medical staff have been called into action after a horrifying outfield collision halted the clash between Perth Scorchers and Sydney Thunder at Optus Stadium.

Players and fans alike were left in shock as Thunder pair Daniel Sams and West Aussie Cam Bancroft crashed into each other at full speed, attempting to claim a catch off Cooper Connolly.

The Scorcher’s batter hit a ball high into the Perth sky early in the power surge, with Sams sprinting off from the in-field in pursuit.

Unbeknownst to him, Bancroft was also tearing in from the boundary rope in a desperate effort to get to the ball.

The pair hit, heads colliding together, in a staggering knock that left teammates desperately calling for medical staff.

Sams appeared to be knocked out while former Scorcher Bancroft was left on his knees, cradling his face.

Bancroft was able to walk from the ground with a bloody and possibly broken nose, but Sams needed the stretcher and medical cart.

The incident occurred just metres from where Melbourne Star and West Aussie all-rounder Hilton Cartwright was stretched off Optus Stadium in Perth’s season opener.

Play was delayed for nearly 20 minutes as shaken Thunder players regrouped.
