Biker dies after horror crash as emergency services race to scene

A motorcyclist has died following a horror crash on a road in South Ayrshire.

Emergency services raced to the B741, southwest of Hamilton Bridge in Crosshill after the alarm was raised at around 4.55pm on Friday. The crash involved a KTM 1290 Superduke R20 motorbike.

Ambulance crews attended but the 59-year-old male motorcyclist was sadly pronounced dead at the scene. There were no other cars involved.

Officers from Police Scotland closed off the road while emergency services were at the scene. It re-opened at around 12.15am on Saturday and police are now appealing for information.

Sergeant Chris Hoggans said: “Our thoughts are with the family of the man who died and enquiries are ongoing to establish the full circumstances.

“We are asking anyone who may have information to contact us. If you were on this road around the time of the crash and saw the motorcyclist or if you have dash-cam footage that could assist with our investigation then please contact us.” Anyone who can help is asked to call Police Scotland on 101, quoting incident number 2669 of Friday, March 21, 2025.
