Armed cops have raced to a residential street in Dundee amid an ongoing incident.
Emergency services are currently in attendance on Earlston Avenue with the alarm initially raised at 12.10pm on Friday. A man has been taken to hospital following a report of concern for a person.
A firearm was discharged by police during the incident. The circumstances have since been referred to the Police Investigation and Review Commissioner (PIRC).
Inquiries are ongoing. It is understood the area remains taped off while forensics carry out investigations.
Chief Inspector David Gibson said: “We are aware this incident will be of concern to the local community, but we would like to reassure everyone that this was self-contained and there was no wider risk to the public.”
