The 7-month old baby was rushed to hospital but sadly died soon after arrival at the medical facility.
A family is mourning after their 7-month-old baby was fatally attacked by the family’s pit bull, leading to a heart-wrenching statement from the devastated father on social media.
“I’d give my life to bring my baby back,” Kameron Turner posted on Facebook, sharing his grief nearly a day after his baby daughter Elizah tragically died. The incident took place at the family residence in Columbus, Ohio, on the morning of Wednesday, April 9, reports the Mirror.
Body cam footage released by the Columbus Police Department captured a man briefing the responding officer about the situation, noting that he had confined one of the dogs in a car while two others remained on the premises.
The body camera video reveals that cops reached the scene at 11:30am. A representative for the Franklin County Coroner’s Office informed People magazine that Elizah was sadly declared deceased at 11:43am, reports the Mirror US.
The spokesperson revealed that initially, one of the parents rushed the child to a local fire station before she was taken to Nationwide Children’s Hospital, where Dr. Jennifer Melvin pronounced the 7-month-old dead shortly upon arrival. Sgt. James Fuqua of the Columbus Police Department stated that Franklin Animal Control is spearheading the probe into the tragic event and has taken all three dogs into their care.
Her devastated dad wrote on Facebook: “All I want to say is please everyone who has babies hold them tight and never leave their side This pain is so unbearable.” Turner shared that his family had just moved into their new home, filled with hope for the future they were eager to start.
In a heart-wrenching statement, he said: “We have a long road ahead of us, and I really don’t understand why god puts us through this s***. It’s gonna be the worse road ahead of us, s*** has not stopped,” revealing the immense pain he’s enduring as a bereaved father.
To assist Elizah’s parents, who also have a four-year-old son, in handling the funeral costs, fundraising initiatives have been created. The grieving dad added, “I just don’t understand why people who do right have to go through this pain.”
According to Animals 24-7, this tragedy marks the fourth deadly pit bull assault on an infant within a mere month, raising the alarming U.S. death toll from dog attacks in 2025 to 22. Further details emerged as the publication noted that the three pit bulls from the home, now held by animal control, are named Kilo, Kane, and Kash. Which one of the dogs was responsible for the fatal attack is unknown at this time.
The Record reported last month on Armed cops scrambling to a property in Midlothian after a crazed XL Bully attacked two people walking their dog.
A 22-year-old man and 33-year-old man sustained minor injuries that required medical treatment while their dog was taken to a vet for treatment.
Cops traced the dog at a nearby property before it was seized and taken to kennels. A 57-year-old man has been charged in connection with the Dangerous Dogs Act 1991.
A source explained: “The dog was a huge XL Bully type, big enough to drag a fully grown man across the road. It was tan brown and white in colour, its face was red with blood.
“Police were contacted and attended. On speaking with officers at scene they advised firearms units were being sent from Edinburgh.
“Scottish Ambulance Service also attended and treated the injured parties, I believe two required hospital treatment. The little dog was also taken to a vet for emergency treatment.”
