COSTA Coffee customers have been left fuming after the chain made a huge change to some of its most popular drinks.
Fans of the drink are begging the chain to bring back the much-loved sugary toppings on its frappés – after they were removed in recent months.

The small crunchy pieces used to come as standard on certain drinks in the frappé range, such as the Salted Caramel and Chocolate Fudge Brownie flavours.
But the coffee giant has removed them to make production faster for baristas, causing a backlash amongst its sweet-toothed buyers.
One enthusiast posted on X: “Please can you bring back the crunchy toffee/caramel bits that used to go on the Salted Caramel Frappe
“Alternatively, where can I purchase them? I miss them so much.”
Another added: “Please please please bring back the sprinkles for the salted caramel and choc brownie frappes! It’s nowhere near as good without them.
“Was ordering several a week between myself and the kids, not bothered the last few weeks since our nearest shop ran out.”
A third said: “Why would you stop sprinkles on your frappe range!! It’s literally the best bit!!”
A fourth told the chain: “It really is bad news for me – I have a salted caramel frappe every day that I can at the local Costa and it is the sprinkles that make it for me and set you on a higher level than other coffee houses. PLEASE rethink.”
The toppings varied according to the flavour you were buying.
The Salted Caramel version used to come with caramel vermicelli shreds, the Strawberry & Cream drink had strawberry sprinkles, and the Choc Fudge Brownie Frappé had brownie crumbs.
But these toppings have all now been removed.
The latter has since been renamed simply as “Chocolate Fudge” due to the loss of the brownie bits.
Meanwhile the Coffee Frappé has also changed and now comes without a “cappuccino dusting” – which was mainly made from sugar and cocoa powder.
Costa Coffee told The Sun: “We’ve streamlined some of our Frappés to ensure customers can get their favourite beverages faster than ever.
“While customers can still enjoy the option of Light Whip or Whipped Cream on a number of our drinks, we have removed certain toppings from our Frappé range. This change allows our incredible baristas to focus on delivering drinks with speed and efficiency.”
The chain also confirmed it has not altered the price of the frappés since the changes.
Costa customers might find prices vary across different locations.
The coffee chain has previously said prices can vary depending upon store location or if they’re owned by a franchise partner.
However, the frappés generally cost about £5.45.
The Choc Fudge Brownie Frappé is described as “deliciously rich and chocolate-y”, while the Salted Caramel version is “a lush, creamy drink with rich salted caramel”.
Other menu changes
The major change comes after customers were left disappointed by Costa axing a new favourite.
The chain confirmed it had discontinued the banana and chocolate muffin after only launching it in January.
Responding to a customer question on Facebook as to the whereabouts of the sweet treat, Costa said: “This muffin has now been discontinued, apologies for this!”
One customer wrote on X that they had only just realised the “lush” muffin was discontinued.
“They were my favourite muffins by far!” they said.
“Could you consider giving them a starring role again in the not too distant future!”
In better news for Costa fans, though, the chain launched its spring menu recently.
The revamped menu includes eight new items, including the return of a drink that became a viral hit.
Customers can now order the Iced Whipped Latte once again.
There are also plenty of returning food options, too, such as the Nacho and Chilli Cheese Toastie.
The toastie is packed with chicken and nacho cheese and is topped with jalepenos and crunchy tortilla chips, with prices starting from £5.20 if you’re wanting to get your hands on one.
You can also once again buy Costa’s Egg Mayo sandwich.
Plus, the Triple Chocolate Muffin returns as an option for chocolate-lovers.
It’s filled with a rich chocolate sauce and topped with chocolate chunks.
The muffin is priced at £2.86, but, when bought with a small or medium beverage, you only have to pay £4.99 in total.
