A grieving family was left horrified after bungling cemetery workers dropped a nan’s coffin – causing her body to fall out.

The dead woman’s family screamed in horror after gathering around her grave during her funeral. As workers began lowering the 86-year-old’s casket in, they misjudged the weight, causing the coffin to tip to one side.

A video clip shows the coffin crashing to the base of the grave with one end hitting the bottom as the other was still being held in place. The lid was seen springing open and the dead woman’s body rolled out.

As reported in the Mirror, angry relatives shouted at the workers, while others screamed out and some cried .The grim incident took place in Monterrey in northern Mexico last Sunday.

According to reports, the woman’s body sustained cuts and scrapes to her face. The woman’s nephews had to jump into the grave to put the body back in the coffin.

The family became embroiled in a heated row with the worker, with relatives claiming the workers were mocking and confrontational towards them. A cemetery official arrived at the plot to calm the situation. He reportedly told the family the workers are “well trained” and he reportedly didn’t seem too concerned about the incident with the casket.

The family said it is considering legal action against the private cemetery.

Back in 2022, a British son jumped into his mum’s grave after her coffin was dropped in head first. Darren Clarke’s mum Doris Lonsdale’s funeral was held at a service in Burton-on-Trent.

Distraught at the loss of his beloved mum, Darren couldn’t watch as her coffin was lowered to the ground. There were gasps from mourners and he finally looked up and saw her casket had slid into the grave. Darren then jumped into the burial trench in an effort to put things right.

Darren said at the time: “They were carrying her coffin to the grave at waist height. I couldn’t watch so I faced the tree about three metres away. Then I heard a gasp. I turned round to see and my sister say they’d dropped my mum.

“I ran over and jumped in the grave. I lifted it right and got her back out.”
