Neil Humphreys was pronounced dead after the two-vehicle crash on February 12.
The man killed in a horror crash on a busy Scots road has been named by police.
Neil Humphreys, 62, died in the crash on the A90 near Laurencekirk after the silver Mercedes Vito van he was travelling in collided a grey HGV lorry at around 10.20am on Wednesday, February, 12.
Emergency services scrambled to the scene but Neil, from Warwickshire, sadly could not be saved. The driver of the van, a 43-year-old man and the driver of the lorry, a 52-year-old man, were also rushed to hospital for treatment. The road was closed for around 12 hours while police investigations were carried out. Road Policing Sergeant Dave Cooper said: “Our thoughts are very much with Mr Humphreys’ family, who have asked for their privacy to be respected during this incredibly difficult time.
“Enquiries are ongoing to establish the full circumstances of the crash, and we are keen to speak to anyone who may have witnessed the crash but has not yet come forward. “I would also ask anyone who was driving in the area at the time with a dash-cam to check their footage and share anything that could assist our investigation.”
Neil’s family revealed he was in Aberdeenshire on a work trip when breaking the news of his death on social media.
Emily Davis added: “Neil was a proud father and grandfather, a wonderful brother, a loving uncle, a cherished cousin, and an incredible friend to so many. He was kind, full of laughter, and always ready with a quip that made us smile. He loved being part of every gathering and was a huge presence in our lives, especially at Harbury Fields Farm.
“His quick wit and cheeky humour will forever be missed, and life will never be the same without him. We loved him so so much.”
Anyone who can assist is asked to contact Police Scotland on 101, quoting incident number 0924 of 12 February.
