Flats evacuated after fire rips through popular Glasgow restaurant
Emergency crews raced to the scene after the fire started in Mother India this morning.

Flats above a popular restaurant in Glasgow were evacuated after a fire in the building.
Emergency crews were called to the Mother India restaurant at Westminster Terrace in the city at around 10:40am this morning, Sunday, February 23.
Police taped off a number of streets as firefighters tackled the blaze, including Sauchiehall Street between Derby Street and North Claremont Street.
No information is available at this stage on any injuries, or the cause of the fire.
An image from the scene shows the police cordon on the street, with vehicles from the emergency services visible in the background.
A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Due to a report of a fire in Westminster Terrace, Glasgow which was reported to police around 11.15am on Sunday, February, 23 a number of road closures are in place.
“Sauchiehall Street between Derby Street and North Claremont Street is closed as are Kelvingrove Street, Westminster Terrace and Parkgrove Terrace. Drivers and pedestrians are asked to avoid the area.”
A spokesperson from the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service said: “We were alerted to a fire within the Mother India restaurant at 10:48am on Sunday, February 23. The blaze was located on the ground floor of the building.
“The flats above the restaurant were evacuated while firefighters tackled the flames. Four appliances were dispatched to the fire and it was extinguished at 12:48pm.
“One appliance remains at the scene while the crews check the fire has not spread to any other parts of the restaurant.”
