King Charles is on the hunt for a housekeeper to maintain “the highest standards” at his official Scottish pad for £12.60 an hour.
The new Housekeeping Assistant will clock in at the Palace of Holyroodhouse in Edinburgh, with options for a 32 or 20-hour week and flexible shifts.
They’ll be part of the crew tasked with sprucing up the sprawling 87,000 square-foot palace, which boasts 289 rooms, including the King’s private quarters and spaces open to visitors.

“We’re looking for passionate, conscientious, and detail-focused individuals to join our Housekeeping team. Working across public areas, facilities, front and back-of-house spaces, and bedrooms, you’ll help ensure every environment is presented at its very best,” reports the Scottish Daily Express.
“Joining our professional team, you’ll take pride in the cleaning, care, and upkeep of a wide range of interiors, furnishings, and historic items. Learning from experienced colleagues, you’ll develop specialist skills and techniques, always striving for the highest possible standards. Working in an environment where development and training are common place, you’ll be able to grow your skills.
“Previous housekeeping or hospitality experience would be an advantage but is not essential. We’re interested in your proactive approach and ability to tackle new challenges. With attention to detail, you take pride in your work and aim for the highest standards.”
The deadline for applications is fast approaching on April 27. The successful candidate will answer to the Master of the Household’s Office and enjoy 25 days of holiday, increasing to 30 days (plus bank holidays).
