Logan Gifford, 26, was raped by his parent Dorene from the age of 10 to 16.
A man who was repeatedly raped by his own mum since he was 10-years-old fears his little brother might actually he his son.
Logan Gifford, 26, was raped by his parent Dorene from the age of 10 to 16, with the vile abuse only ending when he reported his mum to police.
As the Mirror reports, he later testified against his mum in court and she was sentenced to between eight and 20 years in 2025 on charges of attempted sex assault after she took a plea deal.
Mr Gifford, from Las Vegas, Nevada, told a court he had been exposed to drug use when younger and had revealed how his mum first started abusing him. Doreene has claimed she is innocent.
He said his mum brought him into the bedroom she shared with his dad Theodore, where an adult video had been playing, where she then went on to sexually assault him. Gifford went on to help raise his siblings, including his brother, who he is concerned might be his son.
The youngster, who Mr Gifford has not named in order to protect his identity, has cognitive difficulties. His concerns about their relationship is based on children of incest having a higher risk of being born with genetic disorders and disabilities.
Mr Gifford told the Las Vegas Review Journal that the youngster was born around the time he was assaulted and believes he could be the father. He said: “Look at the mess that I’m left with. I didn’t ask for any of this.”
The 25-year-old is now seeking a paternity petition through Las Vegas courts in a bid to find out their true relationship. His lawyer said Doorene denied her son is the father of her brother and expressed a willingness to have a paternity test.
Mr Gifford believes his younger sibling could have been conceived around 2008 and told the outlet how he grew up with child protective services and that his other sibling Liam died aged three after drowning in a pool. He added: “I was a child when all of this happened and yet now I’m responsible for picking up the pieces of something that really is still continuing to have an impact in my life and dragging me to deal with that.
“I feel that as though it is my obligation or my duty to him to do this and to find out who his biological father really is.” He added it was a therapist who raised the thought that his sibling could actually be his son.
Mr Gifford said: “I was 17 at the time. That threw me for a loop.” His sibling is now living with Mr Gifford and receives disability checks.
According to Mr Gifford’s lawyer, the paternity test would be a challenge as both would have Theodore’s DNA, irrespective of whether the 25-year-old is the father. Mr Gifford added: “To sit here and say that my brother may be the product of my sexual assault is a very visceral thing to think about as a male survivor.
“But he’s here now. There’s no going back and undoing anything. And he deserves to have a quality of life where he’s comfortable, where he can be a kid.”
Doreene was released from prison in July las year but was arrested in January after violating a condition of her parole that she have no contact with the victim. She is due to appear in front of a parole violation hearing in April.
