Gillian Sturgeon said she “always will” support her “brother in law” in a post on TikTok on Thursday afternoon.
Nicola Sturgeon’s sister has said she “100 per cent supports” Peter Murrell after he appeared in court charged with embezzlement.
Gillian Sturgeon said she “always will” support her “brother in law” in a post on TikTok on Thursday afternoon.
She said her sister “is free from this mess” after the former first minister was cleared as part of Operation Branchform.
Gillian added that she “Can’t wait” until her sister “leaves Holyrood for the last time”.
It comes after Murrell appeared in court charged with embezzlement in connection with the police investigation into the SNP’s finances.
Nicola Sturgeon and former SNP treasurer Colin Beattie were cleared on the same day.

Gillian Sturgeon posted in a video on TikTok: “My sister is and always will be an honest woman.
“Lots of people have lots of apologies to make for their harsh words but she’ll never get them.
“My sister is free now from this mess!!!!!
“Can’t wait until she leaves Holyrood for the last time!!!!
“And before anyone replies. I (100% emoji) support my brother in law.
“Always have and always will.”
On another post she said: “Always knew my sister was innocent.”
Nicola Sturgeon announced in January that she and Murrell has split after 15 years of marriage.
Murrell, Sturgeon and Beattie were all arrested on separate occasions in 2023 and questioned by police for several hours.
Murrell and Sturgeon’s house was also raided.
All three were released without charge at the time, but Murrell was charged with embezzlement last year.
The police investigation surrounds £600,000 of missing funds raised for a second independence referendum.
Many of Sturgeon’s allies celebrated her being cleared.
Former Glasgow North East SNP MP Anne McLaughlin said: “I once posted that there was NO CHANCE of Nicola Sturgeon having done anything wrong and I got a LOT of replies tagging in the police demanding I be arrested.
“Was correct though wasn’t I? My feelings are as you would expect today & I am now off to feel them.”
Ex-Glasgow South MP Stewart McDonald said: “A big moment as Nicola Sturgeon and Colin Beattie are cleared of any wrongdoing and the police investigation into them now ends.
“Both of them deserve a stiff drink tonight, and the party can breathe a huge sigh of relief that this part of the saga has come to an end.”
Former East Dunbartonshire and Ochil and South Perthshire MP John Nicolson said: “A two year investigation. A police tent erected over her front lawn. Hundreds of thousands of pounds of public money spent.
“And now, in breaking news, Nicola Sturgeon exonerated. Few who know her expected any other outcome.”
Former Livingston MP Hannah Bardell said: “As we knew she would be. Only hope as many column inches and media hours are dedicated to her innocence as there were to the accusations.
“Woman deserves a break and frankly some peace. She’s done a shift and been through hell. All strength and love to you Nicola Sturgeon.”
