A Wishaw man admitted being concerned in the supply of the Class B drug at his home.

Hamilton Sheriff Court heard police seized £800 worth of cannabis from the home of Liam Healy, 25, in Glencairn Avenue, Craigneuk, during 2023.

Defence lawyer Tom Watters said his client became involved in the offence due to financial difficulties.

Mr Watters stated: “He sold cannabis to friends over a period of time. It was low level supply.

“He now realises the error of his ways and has distanced himself from this type of behaviour.

“In the Craigneuk area cannabis is, unfortunately, prevalent and he didn’t realise the serious nature of what he was involved in.”

Sheriff Michael Higgins said he took into account that Healy had no previous convictions and a criminal justice social work report was “positive”.

The sheriff told him: “I’ll step back from imposing a custodial sentence but it is a serious matter.”

Healy was placed under supervision for 12 months and ordered to do 135 hours of unpaid community work.
