“My kids won’t have to worry now. They won’t have to pay massive rents, because I’m not sure life’s going to get any cheaper.”
A Scots mum claims she faced judgment from neighbours for her OnlyFans account, before using her earnings to move to another village 30 miles away.
Laura Whyte received hateful comments while living in the small village of Aberchirder, Aberdeenshire. She claims some locals had contacted the police and threatened to involve social services if she didn’t remove her account.
Despite the difficulties, she says her family have stayed by her side. Alongside her partner and two children, she has since moved to the Aberdeenshire town of Insch last year, using her income from the site.
Laura explained: “In my previous village, I got a lot of hate. I got threats – I had the police around to my door and I had people threaten me with social services if I didn’t take down my OnlyFans account.
“It was quite hard, but by the end of it, I knew I was going to be able to achieve my goal and get a house we love, so I just had to ignore it.”
She previously claimed she was targeted, and wanted to move after becoming fed up of being judged, particularly by other mums in the village.
However, she has said her intentions of having an OnlyFans account were to buy a property to support her children’s future. After years of financial struggles, Laura and her partner of 14 years didn’t want the children to be in the same position.
She fell pregnant with her son at 17, and had her and her partner’s second child, a daughter, nine years ago. After growing up in a council house herself, she became concerned with giving her own children a safety net.
She explained: “I started OnlyFans in 2022 at the end of the year. It was so I could save up to buy a property for my kids’ future – that was the initial motivation, to buy a country home for them to have space and freedom.
“At the time, I didn’t work; my partner was the one bringing in the income,” she said. “He’s the one that brought it up first. He heard a story on the radio, and when he came home that night, he mentioned it to me.
“I wasn’t too confident in myself and my own body so I wasn’t sure at first. We spoke about it for a month or two and then I eventually created an account. Within the first two or three months was when I first started seeing good results.
“In a typical day, I’ll take my photos in the morning, and then I spend a lot of time on TikTok Live, because I can get a lot of traffic through that”, she added.
“I typically make between £5-6k, but it depends on how well your social media accounts are doing that month.”
Last summer, after saving a deposit of £60,000, she bought her £200,000 home with six acres of land.
She said: “We were looking for land, because we want to get animals – specifically sheep and a donkey. We were just looking for space. Now we’ve got six acres, and it’s just peaceful around here. It’s beautiful.
“It feels amazing. It’s just a relief that my kids have somewhere they can always go. I’ve got land as well, so when they’re older, they could put a caravan or even build a house on it if they want.”
She says her kids understand she uses social media to earn her living, and her parents are aware about her career, but have remained supportive. She is also one of the only people in her family who has bought property.
Reflecting on her life, she said: “From being pregnant at seventeen, having nothing to our name, me and my partner stuck it out – and fourteen years on, we have everything we could possibly dream of.
“My kids won’t have to worry now. They won’t have to pay massive rents, because I’m not sure life’s going to get any cheaper.
“I’ve got peace of mind that they’ve always got somewhere to stay and be close to us, if they want to.”
