The weather you can expect for your NYE celebrations

With many Australians planning outdoor celebrations for NYE, the weather can make or break the day.
The Bureau of Meteorology (BoM) have published their forecasts for 31 December with some capital cities luckier than others when it comes to the possibility of a clear night.
Sarah Scully, a spokesperson from BoM told SBS News temperatures will be mostly above average in southern Australia but in the east the weather may be slightly unpredictable.
“It does look like there’ll be a bit of a trough bringing some unstable conditions, particularly to Brisbane where there is a chance of a shower or storm during the afternoon or evening,” Scully said.
Sydney could also experience showers but Scully said it is unlikely to interrupt the countdown.
“There is a risk of a shower storm for Sydney, most likely during the afternoon and evening but it’d be pretty unlucky for it to be over the harbour,” she said.

Here is what we can expect in capital cities for the big night.

Sydney

Sydney can expect a warm and partly cloudy day on Tuesday, with a medium chance of showers and the possibility of a thunderstorm.

The maximum temperature is expected to be 28C.
